I chose this little dandy off of Lou Reed’s 1974 live album ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Animal’ for the first song of the blog. The gritty distorted guitar and raw lyrics depicting speed and heroin use were quite punk at the time of the original song’s release on The Velvet Underground album of the same name. The steady, danceable rhythm and bass line are characteristic of garage music, with the wild instrumentals and ambiguous emotion trademark of glam. Enjoy.
